Data Scientist

The role

Is your day successful when you could apply your knowledge in data science to deliver data-driven insights to the business? Do you get a thrill from seeing your algorithms being deployed in our products and processes?

The Compressor Technique Service division will continue to grow, partially thanks to the business insights our team deliver and the algorithms we develop to make our products and processes smarter. Our data analysts in each department are close to the daily need for data analysis and solutions. They rely however on you as data scientist for the larger projects which require a statistical and/or data modelling approach. Once the algorithms are developed and deployed, our data analysts act as single point of contact and take over operational responsibility, while you remain owner of the algorithm design. In our collaboration with universities, you will ensure that the algorithms developed in a PhD are useful and can be further developed in our team to be eventually deployed.

Are you interested to stay up to date on the latest data modelling and data analysis methodologies, tools and best practices? Do you like to share what you have learnt with the bigger data analyst community? You will take a leading role in increasing the competence and capability of our group of data analysts and data scientists to successfully deliver data driven insights and models. You will organize trainings, host community best practice sessions, hang-outs to learn the broader business context, workshops to conclude on standards and best practices, etc. You will mentor junior data analysts and data scientists setting their first steps on the analytical ladder. We expect you to start this position with a sound knowledge of data modelling techniques and sufficient experience to have learnt how to use this theory in real research projects. Some basic understanding of project management will also help to manage your research projects well. The team is currently using a combination of SAS and R/Python flows in databricks.

Are you genuinely interested in our business of selling and performing service on compressed air installations worldwide? Being involved in projects across different departments, over time you will learn our business in and out. And in that position, it will be your role to further challenge and innovate our business in the direction of data driven processes and products. You will organize ideation sessions with business departments, and you will be involved in strategy meetings to help the departments to develop the data driven aspect of their business. It would be ideal if you already have experience in leading these initiatives.

Is it the cherry on the cake when you can present the conclusion of your research to the internal customer and to higher management? You will get the opportunity to share your progress during the project as well as the conclusion to our divisional management. You will find there an educated audience, interested in the outcome of your research, but also willing to think along on further improvements.

Do you enjoy diversity? You will have regular contact with people all over the world, to improve the products they sell and the operations they run. You will become part of a diverse and international team.

What we expect of you?

To accomplish this role, a master’s degree in Engineering (Computer science, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence) or in Statistics, problem solving skills, professional experience in data analytics and an affinity to an industrial B2B market will help you. High self-motivation, an innovative mindset and accountability are key for success.

Then we would like to get to know you better and to see if you click, not only with our Data scientist vacancy, but also with our own company values.
